Hi! I’m Sandi Wiseheart, and I am incorrigible when it comes to crafting. I’m an avid knitter, spinner, and beader, with forays into crochet, weaving, sewing, quilting, and, uh, well. That’s enough for now. (Let’s not scare off the nice people.)
I was the founding editor of KnittingDaily.com, I was also the former managing editor of Interweave Knits, Interweave Crochet, and Knitscene magazines. And now I’m a freelance knitting/spinning/crochet/beading writer, teacher, and general craft enabler.
I live in the Toronto area of Ontario, Canada with my wife Melody, a three-legged dog named Buddy, a one-eyed kitten named Tim, and an outwardly-normal feline brother-sister duo named Dusty and Zoe. (I say outwardly normal because we have suspicions about Dusty…he seems to be hiding a thumb somewhere, and we suspect he’s earned an astrophysics degree somewhere along the line. But I digress.)
My stash(es) defy my humble abilities to control, categorize, subdue, or organize them.

I’m so grateful to find you! Since you left Knitting Daily, it has been downgraded so much, into “Advertising Daily,” more than anything else. I don’t want beading, crochet, craft, quilt books. I want to keep becoming a fearless knitter, try more difficult projects, and enjoy a community led by someone who informs us and cheers us on!
Your experience and insights, as well as educational, professional galleries, are sorely missed. And I miss seeing staff members of all sizes model the sweaters, as well as Bertha, who was a great and information model, too!
Come back! Come back! I’d even pay a subscription fee to receive your Knitting Daily newsletters again. Now, I find I delete 10 for every one I read and save, the reverse was true when you were there. I used to go out and buy more magazines and books from Interweave, also. Now, I just feel harassed by generic, continual email ads for them.
I’ll be looking for you here, eager to once again feel connected to progressive knitting, and to further development of my knowledge and skills.

I agree completely CynthiaT. Perhaps if more of us let Interweave know that building a community is a better way to build business than constant advertising, they would stop. Though I’m such a sucker for even a little information/inspiration that I’ve signed up for even more emails! Artist Daily, Beading, Weaving. I’m just enabling them, aren’t I? Sigh.

I agree with CynthiaT, Knitting Daily has become one big advertisement. When you wrote the column, one felt as though a friend was writing the blog. It was chock full of helpful knitting ideas and techniques and you always told us what was on YOUR needles! Glad that I found this blog because your Knitting Daily column has not been updated since February. I enjoy your blog and especially the joy that comes through your writing.

Hello Sandi, I hope it’s ok to contact you here about some patterns of yours on the Knittingdaily site. I am trying to make the comfort shawl, from the 3 prayer shawls booklet but am fairly sure there is a mistake early on in the pattern. It’s either that or I am misunderstanding something. Firstly, there the same slipped stitch, the 8th one and the 8th from the end, in every row and surely the exact same stitch cannot be slipped on every single row, also in the first yo row, even if I ignore the slipped stitch, it comes out at 67 stitches but to do the next row, you actually need 69. I would love some help with this if it is at all possible. I am in Cape Town South Africa and understand the time zones are way different. Thanks you

I had printed a copy when it came out and now I cannot find it. Any idea how I can find it again? Went to the free knitting patterns at Interweave, but couldn’t find it. Thanks for your help.
